Ever wonder how can you maximize your visit to Tybee Island? We have gathered the best insider tips so you can plan a dream trip to one of the most unique places you'll ever visit. BEST PLACE TO LAY DOWN YOUR TOWEL Park near the Tybee Beach Beach and Pavilion ( Tybrisa St, Tybee Island, GA 31328) use the bridge  in front of the Tybee Island Marine Center  turn right and walk towards the rock formation close to the sand dunes. This portion of the beach has a smoother sand, lots of shallow areas that are perfect for little kids to bathe safely, is less crowded, and because it's close to the sand dunes you will see a large variety of seaside birds.

Family Field Trip To Yellow River Game Ranch

After General Beau Lee predicted an early spring for Atlanta on Groundhog Day,  I decided to visit Yellow River Game ranch that afternoon for a fun family day. Located just two and one-half miles east of Stone Mountain on Highway 78, the Yellow River Game Ranch gives families the opportunity  to meet wildlife on a close and personal basis.

Stroll along a mile-long trail on 24 wooded acres and encounter over six hundred highly sociable birds and animals indigenous to the state of Georgia.

White-tailed deer, bunnies, buffalo, sheep, kid goats, black bears and a bevy of new-born animals are waiting to be fed, admired and petted on a “nose-to-nose” basis. Yellow River Game Ranch specializes in “people-friendly” wildlife.

General Beauregard Lee is a groundhog that resides at the Yellow River Game Ranch in Lilburn, Georgia just outside of Atlanta. He has received honorary doctorates from the University of Georgia - "DWP, Doctor of Weather Prognostication" and Georgia State University - "Doctor of Southern Groundology."

He has been predicting early springs or late winters for many years and the Game Ranch claims a 94% accuracy rate. However, he did have one major miss: in 1993 he predicted an early Spring but Georgia was hit with a blizzard that crippled the Southeast for nearly a week and a half, sometimes called the "Storm of the Century".

Make sure to buy some bags of food for the animals. They are very friendly and  will come and eat right out of your hand.

Yellow River Game Ranch is open year ’round!

They look forward to your visit any day of the year (except Easter, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day). Days/Hours of Operation: Open 9:30am last ticket sold at 5pm; close 6pm. Admission: $8 for adults, $7 for children 2-11. Under age 2, one child admitted free with paid adult admission.
