Ever wonder how can you maximize your visit to Tybee Island? We have gathered the best insider tips so you can plan a dream trip to one of the most unique places you'll ever visit. BEST PLACE TO LAY DOWN YOUR TOWEL Park near the Tybee Beach Beach and Pavilion ( Tybrisa St, Tybee Island, GA 31328) use the bridge in front of the Tybee Island Marine Center turn right and walk towards the rock formation close to the sand dunes. This portion of the beach has a smoother sand, lots of shallow areas that are perfect for little kids to bathe safely, is less crowded, and because it's close to the sand dunes you will see a large variety of seaside birds.
Taste of Atlanta is a annual event that bring the Atlanta community together for a 3-day food extravaganza. Over 80 Atlanta eateries gathered up in Tech Square to share local favorites with thousands of food lovers.
Throughout
the weekend food lovers flocked the streets around tech square to
enjoy an extensive selection of the best in food, wine, beer and
cocktails – along with engaging chef demos, book author's
presentations, specialty food-and-beverage tents and other
family-friendly activities.
The
festival offered something for every type of visitor. The Family
Food
Zone had a cooking stage for educational demos and cooking lessons
from national
and local chefs in an interactive environment designed to entertain
and inform.
We
had the pleasure to watch our friend Jennifer Harris and Chef
Christophe Holmes from FIGO Pasta, do a gluten-free cooking demo.
Jennifer is a writer, consultant and product specialist that lives a
gluten-free lifestyle. Jennifer shared her experience about living a
gluten-free life and answered questions regarding
symptoms of gluten sensitivity
and Celiac disease. She also explained to the crowd what are the
steps a person needs to take in order to get diagnosed with gluten
sensitivity or Celiac
disease.
The
VIP tasting tents offered an amazing wine + beer + cocktail
experience. The best part of the VIP tents was
that visitors had the opportunity to feast on
amazing samples from a selection of exclusive restaurants not found
in the main festival. Personally, the VIP tasting tent was one of my
favorites things at the festival.
In
terms of my personal favorites I have to give it to “Mi Cocina”
restaurant. The brisket tacos were to die for. The same thing for
their ceviche and although I personally didn't have the opportunity
to taste the nachos, I heard they were incredibly good. Mi
Cocina will open it's first
location in Atlanta on November 2012. I am predicting this restaurant
will take the crown as the best tex-mex restaurant in Atlanta. Mi
Cocina is the real deal. The flavors are amazing and incredible
complex and the serving portions are huge. Mi Cocina is the new
“Taqueria Oxaquena” and that is a HUGE compliment coming from me.
I terms of desserts I personally loved the burnt sugar ice cream from
High Road Craft Ice
Cream & Sorbet
and the warm apple pudding from Gordon
Biersch.
I swear I can still taste it. So, so good!!!
As you can't see in the last picture Audrey really loved the red velvet cheesecake pops. I swear she couldn't stop smiling and was beaming with happiness and she chow it down.
The Burnt Sugar Ice Cream from High Road is one of those things you need to try before you die. Is heaven in a scoop!
The warm apple pudding with caramel sauce served by Gordon Biersch was a crowd's favorite
Free coffee from Green Mountain Coffee
Brisket Taco from Mi Cocina! Holla!!!
