Atlanta History Center Fall Folklife Festival Photo Recap

Every year Atlanta History Center holds the Fall Folklife Festival, an event that allows visitors to experience life back in the old south. The heart of the festival took place at the Atlanta History Center's 1860s Smith Family Farm where festival-goers of all ages enjoyed engaging activities that provide a thorough explanation of the fall harvest and preparation for the colder months ahead – before the invention of central heat. G arden tours, cooking and preserving demonstrations, w oodworking and blacksmithing activities, as well as live musical performances and food truck vendors were some of the many activities offered during the festival.   Founded in 1926, the Atlanta History Center is an all-inclusive, thirty-three-acre destination featuring the Atlanta History Museum, one of the nation’s largest history museums; two historic houses, the 1928 Swan House and the 1860 Smith Family Farm; the Centennial Olympic Games Museum; the Kenan Research Ce...

Emma Watson Delivers Game-Changing Speech on Feminism #HeForShe

In an effort to solidify unity for HeForShe, a movement for gender equality, 24-year-old actress and UN Women Goodwill Ambassador Emma Watson gave a powerful speech about the misconceptions surrounding feminism. The UN Women campaign called "HeForShe" recognizes gender equality not only as a women's issue, but a human rights issue that affects all of us, and liberates both women and men from prescribed social roles and gender stereotypes. This campaign has the goal of mobilizing one billion men to speak-up and take action in ending the persisting inequalities faced by women and girls around the world. In the speech that earned her a standing ovation, Watson stressed the importance of equality, gender roles, feminism and men’s involvement in promoting women’s rights. "I decided that I was a feminist. This seemed uncomplicated to me. But my recent research has shown me that feminism has become an unpopular word. Women are choosing not...

Their latest  recipient , Trevon Williams a seven-year-old that is recovering from his second liver transplant at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, received an  unexpected  visit from Crash Clark, a "trafficologist" on the 11Alive morning show. He surprised Trevon with the new movie, Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier, a Captain America mask and shield, and Falcons tickets for him and his family to attend an upcoming game. But the best part of was how Trevon had the opportunity to hangout time with his all time favorite superhero. I mean watch the video below and watch how big his smile is. Melts my  heart !

Mirror Mirror on the Wall I Am Enough After All! #iamEnough

We are The Mrs., is an all-female band from Austin, Texas. They recently asked women how they felt when they looked in the mirror. Surprisingly most woman immediate reaction was negative and most of them had a hard time embracing their beauty and unique qualities. The mirror didn't like the answers that women were giving and responded back, teaching them why are they not only beautiful but pretty darn awesome! "ENOUGH" looking in the mirror with such a critical eye.  "ENOUGH" of that negative voice we hear in our heads. "ENOUGH" letting the world tell us who we should be. The Mrs.' debut single, "Enough", was written to help women see themselves with a less critical eye, and realize that they are "Enough" just the way they are. Instead of creating a traditional music video, they opted to do something unconventional: take our message directly to the women who inspire us.  Here's part of the lyric that we...
