With  Broadway-caliber, live performances for fabulous prices, rollicking musicals, family-friendly productions and classic plays, you can always count on them for great live theatre.  We had a blast last night during the media night of Annie The Musical. This heartwarming musical brought smiles, laughter and happy tears to the audience. ‬Annie is a Broadway musical based upon the popular Harold Gray comic strip Little Orphan Annie. As a parent of two growing teens I dread the day one of them asks me to let them get a drivers permit. Written by Lauren Gunderson and directed by Aurora’s Director of Education Jaclyn Hofmann, I and You chronicles the unlikely relationship formed by popular jock Anthony and chronically ill Caroline, when he shows up to her house unexpectedly with waffle fries, a beat-up book and a homework assignment to explore Walt Whitman’s poem “Song of Myself.”  As a teenager, I can personally relate the current high school struggle of homework and group projects. Throughout the day, many emotions come between the two characters, both good and bad. THE EXPERT IN ANYTHING WAS ONCE A BEGINNER There’s little doubt that learning to play a musical instrument is great for developing brains. Learning a musical instrument is a superb opportunity for children to express themselves creatively while picking up a new skill. My son joined the school band during sixth grade and I love seeing how much this experience has changed him.  He now has less feelings of anxiety, has a greater control of his emotions and is more focused and attentive during his classes.
